We are seeking a leader to join our client's UK Electrical business to drive growth plans for their electrical certification marks and inspection services. As part of their strategic vision, the Director or Certification will lead a large team with P&L responsibility and collaborate closely with various laboratories, global stakeholders, and key account customers.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Engaging Leadership: Motivate and support the team in delivering strategic plans through inspirational leadership.
  • People Development: Conduct weekly one-on-ones and team meetings. Maintain regular communication and ensure visibility within the laboratory. Create personal development plans for team members.
  • Strategic Growth: Develop and execute a strategy for departmental growth. Support the preparation of business cases for capital expenditure and resource investment.
  • Collaboration: Work with laboratory managers and sales leaders to raise awareness of our product certification portfolio. Hold regular meetings with global colleagues to drive projects. Collaborate with marketing to create targeted market plans.
  • Accountability: Ensure accountability throughout the business to support key growth ambitions. Support the team in managing daily projects, quality tasks, training, and health and safety duties.
  • Financial Management: Manage P&L for your department, forecasting and managing costs. Provide regular reports on engineering capacity, utilization, and other financial metrics.
  • Compliance: Maintain accreditation and manage scope extensions and laboratory investments in line with processes. Ensure health and safety procedures align with site requirements.


Required Skills and Experience:


  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams to deliver strategic goals.
  • Experience creating and delivering business cases and presentations.
  • Deep understanding of of UKAS accreditation requirements (UKAS, IECEx, GSO, ISO 17065), standards, regulations and product compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to influence and negotiate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent Office 365 skills – ability to create relevant reporting to drive business growth.
  • Experience dealing directly with customers, bids, and tenders.
  • Knowledge of accreditation requirements, standards, regulations, and product compliance.


This role will be mainly based onsite at locations in Surrey, Bucks or Cheshire, with total compensation package of around £100,000 per annum, including bonus.
