Our client is a global energy business looking for a talented individual to provide Public and Government policy affairs Communications/PR support to their UK and Ireland businesses, as well as supporting media relations and community engagement activities.

Ideally you will be a graduate with 1-3 years (preferred) in public/government affairs/communications or similar role.

The role sits within the Public and Government Affairs Department in Canary Wharf London, Reporting to the Manager Public and Government Affairs, the successful candidate will support the company's advocacy efforts, working to advance business objectives across a range of regulatory and policy areas.

The role requirements are:

  • Support the Manager to provide government affairs support for company's UK and Ireland operations, including managing agency teams and drafting correspondence.
  • Represent the company externally, attending meetings with government, political, trade association and other industry stakeholders.
  • Organise and coordinate external facing activities, including arranging meetings/conference events.
  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of public policy, liaising with subject matter experts to develop company positions. Includes producing briefing materials and drafting responses to government consultations on various policy matters.
  • Assist in day-to-day media relations, including monitoring media coverage, responding to press enquiries and writing press releases. Also, sharing out-of-hours media duty roster duties and supporting emergency response communications for pipelines and terminals business.
  • Administer charitable and community engagement outreach.
  • Some travel within the UK, Europe and to the U.S. when required.
