Job Description

Urenco is seeking a highly skilled Director of Government Affairs UK to join our team. As a key member of our Government Affairs team, you will be responsible for engaging with government officials and MPs to support Urenco's commercial objectives. You will also provide thought leadership and advocacy on the role of nuclear in the energy mix and its role in a decarbonised world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create targeted external communications with UK government officials, including DESNZ and DBT.
  • Collaborate with the nuclear industry in the UK from a government and public policy perspective.
  • Work closely with URENCO colleagues, especially in Legal and Government Affairs, and external advisers.
  • Deliver and provide input to global government affairs projects.
  • Manage a direct report (UK & EU Senior Government Affairs manager).
Requirements
  • Educated to degree level (post-grad qualification preferred).
  • Excellent cross-Whitehall understanding and network, including an understanding of political parties, their platforms and key decision-makers.
  • Appreciation of public policy surrounding nuclear issues, Net Zero, COP and the role of nuclear energy with renewables.
  • MS office user, including Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Experience of working within the energy or nuclear sector or other 'In-house' government relations experience in a highly regulated sector.
  • Experience working in Whitehall or demonstrable level of working closely with UK government is essential.
