Are you ready to make a real impact in shaping policies that support greener, more sustainable landscapes? Do you thrive at the intersection of strategy, advocacy, and collaboration?
Policy by Murray are delighted to be working with The British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI), who are looking for a visionary Head of Policy and Public Affairs to champion the landscape and horticulture industries at the highest levels.
About the Role:
This is no ordinary policy role. As the driving force behind BALI's public affairs strategy, you'll work to influence government policy, engage with parliamentarians and civil servants, and build powerful alliances across the landscape and horticulture sectors. Your work will ensure that members' voices are heard on the big issues of today: sustainability, climate resilience, and the future of green infrastructure.
From crafting clear, evidence-based policies to preparing briefings that inspire action, you'll have the opportunity to lead initiatives that truly make a difference. Whether you're delivering a speech at an industry conference, collaborating with regulators, or developing guidance for our members, you'll be at the heart of meaningful change.
What You'll Do:
- Drive impactful public affairs programs to influence policy and build relationships with key decision-makers.
- Stay ahead of the curve by analysing emerging issues and guiding BALI's response.
- Represent the organisation as a trusted voice in public forums, conferences, and working groups.
- Partner with stakeholders across government and industry to shape policies that reflect our members' needs.
- Lead on regulatory updates, ensuring best practices and standards remain relevant and effective.
About You:
You're not just experienced in policy development and public affairs - you're passionate about it. You're well-versed in the workings of government, have a strong grasp of current affairs, and know how to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives. With outstanding communication skills and a talent for building relationships, you thrive on collaboration and can influence stakeholders at every level.
Bonus points if you've worked in horticulture, construction, landscaping, or other green industries - your insight will help shape a flourishing future for our sector.
Why join BALI?
The British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI), champions excellence in UK landscaping. It supports members with training, accreditation, and industry standards while connecting clients with trusted professionals. Dedicated to innovation and sustainability, BALI raises the profile of landscaping and fosters a thriving, professional industry across the UK.
