Security Services Group (SSG) is a business unit within the DIO which assists the MoD and the wider Government Estate in meeting its security requirements.
SSG provides specialist security advice, compliance, and assurance to areas of the government sector that require the highest levels of security protection. SSG is the Government�s expert provider specialising in design, installation, and maintenance of both custom in-house security systems and highly accredited commercial products on the government estate.
Working as part of a 230-person team, we provide full life support services to UK Defence and Government sites throughout the UK and overseas.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
We are looking for a motivated and passionate professional to join as a senior advisor within the Protective Security Advisory Team (PSAT). You will be responsible for the provision of in-depth independent unbiased security advice to SSG�s Central Government and other clients. This includes detailed guidance as well as site visits to understand current and future work.�
This role requires travel across the UK and occasional overseas visits, including overnight accommodation. We will provide you with the choice of a non-liveried company vehicle to work across the UK and you can opt in to use this for personal use.
Person specification
Provide threat and counter-threat expertise in support of PSAT and SSG more widely, including advice on projects and awareness briefs. Other requirements include:
Possess in-depth security knowledge with proven time served experience in the field of security. This should include an understanding and awareness of electronic security systems (IDS/VSS/AACS/SyL) and physical security items (Barriers, Structures, Locking-devices, Doors & HVM).Excellent management information skills, with the ability to manage the technical documents library.�Excellent communication skills: Provide customer interface and represent SSG at high level external meetings. Undertake complex discussions and negotiations with SSG Project Managers and Client Security Officers for Key Project accounts.Provide focused threat, counter-threat and security training for SSG�s staff and external clients.Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a small team.Have financial management skills: estimating, job costing, invoicing, procurement and budget management;Demonstrate a flexible approach to work and a willingness to attend site meetings and other locations when necessary.�Working knowledge of British, European and Government Standards relating to security together with knowledge of QA and H&S policies.Licences

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
