**Job summary**:
This is an exciting opportunity for a data analytical individual to join the DIO Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) Team and help shape the future direction of the SWP function within DIO. As we head into a challenging new financial year, we need to continue to adapt and refine our workforce plans to ensure we are optimising the alignment of DIO’s workforce with key departmental priorities.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
As the Strategic Workforce Planning Lead, you will be responsible for the accurate planning of resource requirements, understanding DIO’s current workforce capability, forecasting future needs and ensuring we have a mid to long term strategy plan to bridge any gaps. You will be at the heart of understanding the complex strands impacting on DIO’s workforce plans, setting out the narrative that DIO needs to consider.

Role responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;
- Leading on the in-year reporting of workforce against budget, and the preparations for quarterly workforce reviews with senior stakeholders.
- Leading on the identification of resource levels, skills and competencies required, and skill gaps for new and existing staff.
- Advising senior stakeholders of any implications and opportunities, undertaking regular capability reviews, and monitoring availability/supply of critical skills and roles.
- Engaging with the Strategic Resourcing Team and other HR colleagues to translate the workforce demand plan into a strategic workforce plan, including guidance on appropriate balances of build/buy or other options.
- Using scenario modelling to inform and develop longer term strategic workforce plans.
- Using internal and external data to understand trends and build insights in relation to our workforce and use these to identify workforce risks and issues.

**Person specification**:
To be successful in this role you need to be analytical with the ability to translate and set out compelling narratives to senior stakeholders. You will be experienced in longer term strategic workforce planning, as well as in-year forecasting and reporting.

You will be an engaging and trusted advisor, with the credibility and confidence to influence and challenge effectively, supporting decision making and strategic objectives.

With outstanding interpersonal skills, you will have the capability to build positive relationships with internal teams and senior leaders across DIO. You will demonstrate a high level of discretion, maintaining confidentiality and a sensitive approach towards information and data.
