The role involves supporting the citizens of Manchester by completing a financial assessment for individuals who need and receive care and support within both non-residential and residential settings.

We are a fast-moving team who receive communications from a wide range of sources. To do this role you will need to be able to work on your own initiative whilst retaining a strong role as a team player.

You will be assigned a daily caseload that needs to be managed from start to conclusion, whilst continually reviewing and prioritising any previous unfinished cases.

You will communicate with the citizens of Manchester, some of whom are vulnerable. You will need to be emotionally resilient as the details of the cases can often contain distressing or sensitive information about a person’s circumstance.

Each day you will send letters to citizens about the cost of their care package and how much they must contribute towards this. You will need to be able to understand and provide a breakdown of their accounts, financial assessments, and payment instructions. Strong communication skills, diary management and working on your own initiative is essential for this role. You need to be able to react positively to change and be able to adapt to new information and updates as they come to light. The request to carry out a financial assessment comes from Social Workers and Care Managers. You must be able to liaise with vulnerable people and professionals about financial matters at a difficult time. You will need to be able to communicate by using, emails, telephone and by drafting and sending out letters.

When completing a Financial Assessment, you will need to undertake thorough checks to identify a citizen’s income and expenditure. Having attention to detail is essential for the role, as well as the ability to interpret information from various sources. We use systems such as Controcc to carry out assessments, Liquid Logic to update professionals and a DWP system to obtain some financial information. Training will be given to learn these systems, but you must be competent in using different computers systems and or packages such as Microsoft products.

One of the main areas of the role is to respond to emails that are received daily from citizens, professionals, and other internal and external departments.
