Job summary
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.
The Defence College of Support (DCSp) delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service personnel in Supply, Distribution, Driving, Catering, Policing & Guarding and Personnel Administration.
The college is made up of 3 schools; Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA) predominantly based at Worthy Down; Defence School of Policing and Security (DSPS) in Southwick Park; and Defence School of Transport (DST) at Leconfield. The college headquarters is also based at Worthy Down � a newly built, modern campus in Hampshire.
This role sits within the Assurance Team for the College and is an ideal opportunity for an individual to develop new skills and experience in a high-profile dynamic situation. You will join an already established team consisting of military and civil service colleagues delivering and supporting training.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
Main responsibilities of an Assurance Officer include:
�Assurance of training, the provision of Duty of Care and Continuous Improvement throughout the College. To include On-Site Visits, Remote Audit of Documentation, Training Compliance, and audit follow upsManagement of Assurance Visit programme, including completing audit reportsScheduling and planning Audit visitsProduction of audit reportsProvide direction and guidance to staff and trainers on the Defence Systems Approach to TrainingProvide direction and guidance on the application of Duty of Care policies throughout the CollegeProvide direction and guidance on the application of internal processes for Assurance, Continuous Improvement and Self AssessmentsRecording and distributing of 'Good Practice' throughout the CollegeManagement of the headquarters local instructions, ensuring they are kept up to datePerson specification
We are seeking applicants who are forward leaning, motivated, enthusiastic and can work proactively to achieve outcomes. Applicants will need to be effective communicators and confident to deliver working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
The successful applicant will be required to provide independent Quality Assurance/Continuous Improvement Direction and Guidance, conducting Audits of Training Management Systems, Duty of Care structures and procedures across the College.��
The post holder will be required to travel to other Military establishments across the UK covered by this role on a regular basis and some visits may require overnight stays.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
