Job description

This is a permanent post but is offered as a career graded apprenticeship, so you can earn whilst you learn and complete an NVQ Level 2/ 3 in Business Administration. To account for this we can be flexible on applicants who may not meet all of the Essential
criteria for the role because you can learn them as you go and to reflect this the salary
is accordingly: -
• Year One Paid at 80% of salary (uplifted to £12/hr by our Real Living Wage Policy)
• Year Two Paid at 90% of salary
• Year Three Paid at 100% of salary

About the role:
The role is based within the Councils Waste and Recycling team and exists to encourage residents, visitors and businesses to make good use of the services provided. In particular, to promote the Council’s recycling schemes, to maximise participation and increase the quantity and quality of recyclables collected. The role is also required in order for the Council to carry out waste enforcement activities, which contribute to statutory targets and ensures legal compliance and help make the county cleaner and greener.
About you:
You will need to have an interest in and enthusiasm for environmental issues especially recycling.

Over time you will develop strong administration and customer service skills, detailed knowledge of recycling and marketing and engagement skills to help promote recycling to the general public.
What you will do:
You will undertake general office administration duties for the team including managing the team in-box, dealing with all print and post, correspondence and complaints, including sending out legal letters and Fixed Penalty Notices.
You will plan and deliver educational and marketing campaigns to promote recycling and encourage uptake of services, including maintaining the service web-pages and social media channels and in liaison with corporate communications, partners and contractors producing print and digital media including press releases, adverts, signage, posters, leaflets etc.
You will also undertake a range of community engagement to promote the service including for example organising volunteer litter picks, door knocking campaigns, attending local fetes and fairs and giving talks to community groups.
