Job description

The International and Economic Security Directorate advances the UK�s global vision and economic prosperity. We work to further the government�s foreign policy mission and promote innovation, trade and investment which elevate our position at the forefront of the digital economy. We ensure that British values of democracy and open society are placed at the centre of a secure digital and technological international landscape.

This role sits in the Director�s Private Office, in the International and Economic Security Directorate. Our team supports the director and deputy directors as they work on an exciting and fast moving agenda. You will also offer vital support to the directorate as a whole as well as acting as point of contact and an initial representative for the division across Whitehall and to external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our department as it leads on one of the most exciting and vital policy areas facing the UK. We are looking for an Executive Assistant to support our deputy directors to help manage their time as effectively as possible to meet their wider objectives.

The post holder will provide a proactive and comprehensive service which will be spent organising and managing the fast moving diaries of the deputy directors. This may also include preparing agendas, presentations and setting up meetings with both internal and a wide range of external stakeholders in a timely manner. You will take responsibility in creating daypacks and ensure briefings are distributed as well as taking a lead on ensuring actions are completed. You must be able to respond to enquiries and requests using judgement to prioritise and highlight key issues. Additional responsibilities will include organising and booking domestic and international travel, event and meeting arrangements, supporting the directors office team as they in turn support the directorate as a whole for both corporate and pastoral duties.

The role will put you in the heart of the International and Economic Security�s fast-paced and challenging agenda. The individual needs to be well organised and able to make quick and independent decisions about their own priorities and those of the director and deputy director.

It would suit somebody new to the Civil Service and keen to develop a policy career, as well as experienced corporate support professionals.

Skills and experience

Essential Requirements:

Excellent organisational skills and a proven ability to quickly grasp what is needed and deliver at pace.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong capability in using Microsoft Office applications.
Good stakeholder management skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with a variety of people.
Ability to understand and present data.

Desirable Skills:

Experience working as a personal or executive assistant, or in corporate support.
Experience of diary management and inbox support.
