Payroll Advisor - 12 month Fixed Term Contract
Northampton

As a Barclays Payroll Advisor, you will become part of our team where you will be using your skills to take care of the all payroll activity for our employees across the EME Region. You will be based in our strategic site in Northampton, and as part of the HR Operations team, you will get an opportunity to be at the heart of Payroll providing consistent, effective, and high-quality service to our managers and colleagues.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, established in 1690, with a legacy of success, quality, and innovation. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity - helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

What will you be doing?
• Managing quality, accuracy and delivery of the Payroll Service, including management of third party suppliers who provide outsourced services
• Ensuring that the Payroll Service is compliant with local legislative requirements and that that it operates within Barclays Policy and Framework agreements
• Handling and leading both statutory/ legislative and business-requested changes to payroll and time systems
• Updating and submitting monthly payrolls data within the agreed payroll timescales to the payroll vendor
• Commencing the period payroll run to calculate pay and deductions for the period to determine the net amounts to pay to employees
• Balancing of the GL (General ledger) and other associated activities with Finance team

What we're looking for:
• Experience of working within a high-volume complex Payroll department
• Customer service and stakeholder management experience
• Ability to work under pressure, coordinate and prioritise activities, along with self-discipline and motivation
• Capability to multitask under pressure whilst maintaining high quality delivery

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Experience in using HR/ Payroll applications and systems
• Proven experience of Payroll operations processes
• Advanced Excel skills, V-look ups, formulas etc
• Knowledge of any European language would be an advantage

Where will you be working?
Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
