We are seeking a dedicated Housing Officer to join our team, where you will play a key role in a number of housing related initiatives designed to maximise use of our housing stock. As a Housing Officer you will work closely with tenants to address there needs and resolve issues and ensure a positive living environment. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in peoples lives while contributing to the stability and growth of our community.
KNOWLEDGE
Operational knowledge of housing policy and related legislation is desirable to deliver
accurate information and make balanced judgements within statutory requirements & strictguidelines.
The jobholder should have experience of dealing with vulnerable and disadvantaged clients,and have knowledge of giving welfare related advice and signposting to support networks.
Knowledge of housing and related legislation in the operation of Council policies and
proceduresKnowledge of MS Office or similar Spreadsheet and Word processing applications isessential.
Homepoint Level 2 or 2 Highers, including English, or SVQ equivalent combined with necessary experience. A diploma in Housing Studies is a desirable qualification.
If the jobholder does not meet the educational criteria, they will have to evidence they havethe capacity to meet the educational standard.
The jobholder requires knowledge of a wide range of jobs and associated activities and willgenerally need an extended period of relevant working experience to become fully competent& familiar with all aspects of the job (2 years).

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 17.5 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £ 14,.72 per annum.
Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this PSN Disclosure check will be met by you.
