Greenock, United Kingdom The Richmond Fellowship Scotland Full time

Our team in Greenock is expanding, and were on the lookout for compassionate and creative individuals with a positive and nurturing attitude to join them as Support Practitioners on a full-time, permanent basis (39 hours per week).

You don’t need previous experience in care to join our team as a Support Practitioner as we recruit on values and transferable skills. We provide full training along with the opportunity for you to complete your SVQ.

For this role, it is essential that you hold a full UK, manual driving licence with minimum of 1 years' driving experience, as many of the people we support own their own mobility cars and enjoy going for a drive.

The Role

You'll be joining our friendly team providing support to individuals living in their own homes in the community with disabilities and/or additional support needs. As a Support Practitioner, you will assist with all aspects of daily living including meal preparation, medication, going to appointments and activities, managing personal finances, support with moving and handling and personal care. As well as helping the people we support in their own homes, you’ll also provide emotional support and assist them to maintain relationships with family and friends.

The people we support enjoy being active in their communities, from arts and crafts, bingo and shows at the Beacon to watching the football and going out for a tasty bite to eat. We’ll be looking to you to take an active interest in their hobbies and enable individuals to explore new ones.

To be part of our team, we’ll need you to:

Full UK, manual driving licence. Have an empathetic and caring nature. Good observation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Confidence in using computers. Be able to work well in a team environment and on your own. Good organisational skills.

Shift Patterns

Our dedicated friendly team provide 24/7 support which is tailored to the needs of each individual, so depending on shift length you may be supporting more than one individual but do not worry as we factor travel into your hours. Our shifts include earlies, days, lates and sleepovers.

The sleepover part of your shift is not included in your contracted hours so for every sleepover you cover you will be paid an additional £99.20.

Benefits

Generous annual leave. TRFS rewards scheme (includes cash-back and discounts at a variety of high street and online retailers). Paid travel during shifts and 45p per mile fuel allowance. Continuous in-house training opportunities and chances to further your career in social care. Refer a Friend scheme- £ reward for successfully referring a colleague. Employee Forum - for employees to voice their opinions and give feedback which in turn, allows us to continuously improve as an employer and ensure a positive working environment.

If you are applying via a job board then please be aware that you must submit an application via our website otherwise we will be unable to contact you

All successful Support Practitioner applicants will be given a conditional offer- this is subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and PVG; having a conviction will not necessarily debar you from working in this sector. All new staff members will be required to register with the SSSC within 3 months of their start date.

We’re looking to fill these posts as soon as possible and reserve the right to close the advert if suitable candidates are found before the advert closes. To avoid disappointment, pop your application in early. Closing date: 16th October .

We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We welcome applications irrespective of race, ethnicity or national origin, religion, gender, disability, age, marital, parental status or sexual orientation. Our mission is to welcome everyone and create inclusive teams.

We celebrate difference and encourage everyone to join us
