Job summary

The Business Continuity Manager position plays a pivotal role in the success of the Science and Technology Directorate. Not only does this role ensure continuous and correct practices of engagement, but also supports in delivering the monitoring and reporting requirements of the team to ensure that the impact of practices delivered can be measured and reported.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and adaptable individual, ideally with experience in business management, to lead the design, implementation and management of appropriate planning and reporting systems. You will oversee a consistent approach to business management functions, financial management, workforce planning and wider business planning activities across the sponsor team. You will act as a key point of contact for Finance and HR business partners, supporting wider corporate activity including staffing and recruitment, business continuity management and corporate reporting.

Job description

Resource Management: ensure headcount data is accurate and resourcing requirements are met by managing the recruitment process.Risk management: ensure S&T-specific risks are recorded and reviewed throughout the year.Support the annual business planning process.Ensure the production and delivery of high-quality performance reports, using agreed methodologies and ensuring that the evidence is accurate and reliable.Support SCS and heads of teams to review and improve processes.Work with other business managers to share best practice.Liaise with various teams and support on event planning.

Skills and Experience

Essential criteria:

Have previous experience or an good understanding of business management processes and best practice.Have excellent attention to detail and data literacy skills, with the ability to organise, analyse and communicate numerical information in a clear and understandable way.Have knowledge or an understanding of finance, procurement and commercial management best practice.Can build and maintain excellent relationships among colleagues and stakeholders.Are able to advise on continuously changing work-streams, including influencing busy colleagues and senior stakeholders.Can cope well with change and are resilient.Have experience of handling sensitive information, displaying tact and diplomacy, and maintaining confidentiality.Experience dealing with finances.

Desirable Criteria:

Experience of working with correspondence.Experience of working in policy.
