Team Player

  • Work closely with other technical teams including Service Delivery and our Portfolio teams to proactively share knowledge of technical solutions.

  • Create and nurture business relationships with 3rd party partners, Product Owners, and other areas of the business, understanding the impact of technical solutions and desired outcome.


Daily Role Requirements


This is a hands-on role for a Senior AppOps engineer who wants to be part of a new product driven organisation and influence the development, build and ongoing maintenance and upkeep of ISG's core business applications including Microsoft Dynamics - Business Central, ServiceNow, WorkDay, SmartSource.

This role requires a dynamic work ethic with a deep technical background who can ensure these critical applications are running smoothly, efficiently, and securely. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive operational excellence, with a particular focus on leveraging Azure applications and integration hubs.

  • Collaborate with Portfolio Strategists, Owners, Architects and Cloud Infrastructure Engineers to deliver industry leading application performance.

  • Lead our portfolio projects aiding in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our ERP, BI, CRM, and Procurement business applications, including Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, ServiceNow, SmartSource, and Workday.

  • Monitor and manage application performance and reliability, ensuring high availability and scalability.

  • Automate operational processes, including deployment, monitoring, and alerting.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application issues in collaboration with development, functional, and IT teams using our ITSM solution ServiceNow.

  • Collaborate with our DevOps teams s to design and optimize our deployment pipelines.

  • Develop and maintain a "Just Enough" documentation mantra for AppOps processes and procedures.

  • Work within a wider AppOps team and provide mentorship and provide guidance to our other AppOps engineers.

  • Utilise Azure Application Services and Integration Hub to streamline and enhance AppOps.

  • Leverage strong SQL skills for database management, optimization, and troubleshooting.

  • Work to a high degree of accuracy with good attention to detail, resulting in consistent technical configuration and documentation.

  • Promptly and efficiently resolve issues and problems and ensure they do not reoccur.

  • Develop and maintain robust monitoring solutions tailored specifically to our business applications, ensuring early detection of issues and anomalies.

  • Lead incident response efforts during critical incidents, coordinating with cross-functional teams to restore normal operations swiftly.

  • Conduct and create regular audits and assessments to identify and address potential security vulnerabilities, specifically within the ISO27001 framework

  • Lead efforts to diagnose and resolve application-related issues, collaborating closely with DevOps squads to implement effective solutions as well as maintain healthy relationships with our third-party partners.

  • Provide evolving monitoring solutions to provide fixes before they are detrimental to the platform.

  • Analyse existing business processes, identify areas for improvement, and propose innovative solutions to streamline operations.

  • Work in an agile environment, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Break down projects into user stories and tasks, estimating effort and providing regular updates on progress.

  • Share insights and best practices with other AppOps team members to enhance and breed a collective expertise and responsibility within our AppOps team.

  • Utilise Power BI for the design, build, and maintenance of dashboards and reports for business intelligence purposes, collaborating with our data team to provide data accuracy and accessibility.

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions..

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, ServiceNow, SmartSource, and Workday among others

  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform).

  • In-depth understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (Azure DevOps, GitLab).

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools.

  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and system administration.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Extensive experience with Azure Application Services and Integration Hub.

  • Solid SQL skills and experience with database management, optimization, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with Power BI, including data modelling, report building, and dashboard creation.

  • Proven experience with integration technologies, APIs, and web services for seamless data exchange between systems.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment and quickly learn innovative technologies and business processes.

  • Experience working in an agile environment, following agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience as an AppOps Engineer or in a similar role, demonstrating the ability to support, improve and implement complex business applications.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.

  • Experience with cloud technologies, preferably Azure, for scalable and flexible system architecture.

  • AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator

  • MB-910: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Fundamentals (CRM)

  • DP-300: Administering Relational Databases on Microsoft Azure

  • PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst

  • AI-102: Designing and Implementing an Azure AI Solution

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator

  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist

  • Workday HCM Certification
