Team Collaboration

Daily Role Expectations

This position is a hands-on opportunity for a Senior AppOps Engineer who aspires to be part of a product-driven organization and influence the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of ISG's core business applications, including Microsoft Dynamics - Business Central, ServiceNow, WorkDay, and SmartSource.

This role demands a dynamic work ethic and a robust technical background to ensure these critical applications operate smoothly, efficiently, and securely. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive operational excellence, particularly focusing on leveraging Azure applications and integration hubs.
  • Partner with Portfolio Strategists, Owners, Architects, and Cloud Infrastructure Engineers to deliver top-tier application performance.
  • Oversee our portfolio projects, assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our ERP, BI, CRM, and Procurement business applications.
  • Monitor and manage application performance and reliability, ensuring high availability and scalability.
  • Automate operational processes, including deployment, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex application issues in collaboration with development, functional, and IT teams.
  • Work with our DevOps teams to design and optimize deployment pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain concise documentation for AppOps processes and procedures.
  • Engage with a broader AppOps team, providing mentorship and guidance to fellow AppOps engineers.
  • Utilize Azure Application Services and Integration Hub to enhance AppOps efficiency.
  • Employ strong SQL skills for database management, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, resulting in consistent technical configuration and documentation.
  • Swiftly and effectively resolve issues to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain robust monitoring solutions tailored to our business applications, ensuring early detection of issues.
  • Lead incident response efforts during critical incidents, coordinating with cross-functional teams to restore normal operations promptly.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Analyze existing business processes, identify areas for improvement, and propose innovative solutions to streamline operations.
  • Participate in an agile environment, engaging in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Break down projects into user stories and tasks, estimating effort and providing regular progress updates.
  • Share insights and best practices with other AppOps team members to foster collective expertise and accountability.
  • Utilize Power BI for designing, building, and maintaining dashboards and reports for business intelligence purposes.

Required Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, ServiceNow, SmartSource, and Workday.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform).
  • In-depth understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (Azure DevOps, GitLab).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools.
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and system administration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience with Azure Application Services and Integration Hub.
  • Solid SQL skills and experience with database management, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Power BI, including data modeling, report building, and dashboard creation.
  • Proven experience with integration technologies, APIs, and web services.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment and quickly learn innovative technologies.
  • Experience working in an agile environment, following methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience as an AppOps Engineer or in a similar role, demonstrating the ability to support and enhance complex business applications.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, preferably Azure, for scalable system architecture.
