Role Purpose

We are looking for a Summer Intern to join our Casualty Insurance and Reinsurance Team based in London. The internship will involve assisting Underwriters and Actuaries to manage a global Casualty portfolio.

The role will be wide-ranging, with an aim to give the successful candidate real responsibility and opportunity to gain the experience and skills to help you with future roles.

At the end of the internship you will have:
  • A good understanding of how a Global casualty team operates.
  • Assisted Underwriters and Actuaries in day-to-day operations.
  • Owned and delivered a project which you will present at the end of the six weeks.
  • Hands on experience in the operation and management of a top 5 Global Reinsurance company.
Duties

The successful candidate will spend six weeks working in our London office, close to Bank tube station, where they will be involved in:
  • Reviewing incoming deal submissions alongside Underwriters.
  • Prepare for and attend client/ broker meetings.
  • Monitor and review contract wordings.
  • Liaise with the Actuarial pricing team and assist with data management.
  • Assist Actuarial team with deal pricing.
  • Perform portfolio review on assigned business for profitability analysis.
  • Owning and delivering a summer project. The output of which will be presented to senior stakeholders at the end of the 6 week programme.
Education Requirements
  • A range of A-Level subjects and degrees will be considered.
Skills and Competencies

Requirements:
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • No experience required.
  • Demonstrating interest in Insurance, Reinsurance and a basic understanding of the Casualty industry is valuable. Candidates will benefit from showing interest in various insurance products and how an insurance company makes money.
  • Some experience of Microsoft software, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is expected.
  • Candidates must be authorised to work in the UK and not require sponsorship.
