An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy Fostering Service. Foster carers are vital to provides loving and caring homes for children and young people who cannot remain living with their families.

The successful candidate will hold a case load that would involve all aspects of our work, including: responding to enquiries and referrals, assessing foster carers, offering training and support groups to foster carers; providing vital individual support to foster carers, and working as part of our duty service.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Practitioner who has either experience of working in family placement or an interest and enthusiasm for getting involved in this area of work.

The applicant should have experience of working within the Child Protection guidelines as well as some knowledge of current legislation concerning children and families generally and family placement work specifically.

This is a busy team, but one that works with a great deal of commitment and enthusiasm. The team applies a great deal of knowledge and experience to their work and offers to an applicant significant opportunities for learning new skills and applying social work theory to their practice. Applicants should have a sound value base, excellent communication and report writing skills and a working knowledge and understanding of the family placement social work role and responsibilities.

Job Requirements

Education/Qualifications
Essential: Approved qualification in Social Work, and SSSC registration.
Those with international Social Work qualifications should not apply unless they are fully registered with the SSSC.
Desirable: Post qualifying award

Driving Licence
Full current driving licence and access to a vehicle*

PVG/Disclosure Requirements
