Content Designer - Swindon

Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Content Designer to join our team on a 3-year FTC starting from July 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile project to improve the work experience of all Trust colleagues. Our staff intranet, Acorn, contains information, organisational news, systems and processes which thousands of colleagues use to do their day-to-day jobs on a range of devices.

You'll be working on our intranet improvement project, auditing, refreshing and creating the content on our intranet to reflect the Trust's varied activities and meet our colleagues' needs and organisational objectives.

You'll be passionate about delivering engaging, accessible and audience-focused content. We're looking for someone with experience of communicating through great content writing and who is audience-focused and a committed team member.

What it's like to work here

We're bigger than you think, we're more complicated than we appear and we're larger scale than you'd imagine. We've got passionate people in all our teams, and we've got so much more we want to achieve. We're forever, for everyone and we really mean that. We don't want to stop at 5.5 million members and we want everyone to feel welcome and enjoy access to our places, so we need to reach new audiences in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them without losing the hearts and minds of those that are already with us.

You'll report to the Content Marketing Manager in a new team for the Acorn Improvement project, working closely with the Internal Communications team. As the project grows, you will work alongside other content designers in a fast-paced, performance-focused workplace.

You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon with an expectation of a minimum of 1 day per week presence in the Swindon office to work with your team in-person. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

You'll be auditing, optimising and creating content for our internal employee intranet. Your work will have an initial focus on creation of business-critical content on an intranet back-up site. You'll evaluate a broad range of existing content covering the breadth and impact of the Trust's work, as well as support stakeholders to create engaging new content.

You'll have a great understanding of web content best-practice and SEO. You'll work closely with a wide range of subject-specialist content owners across the organisation at all levels, so you'll need to be able to manage effective client relationships and be able to communicate effectively.

You'll need to be comfortable with numbers and making recommendations based on analytics data. You'll be a creative thinker and problem solver who enjoys working in a busy team. You will receive full training to use the WorkFront system we use to manage team work flow.
