London, Greater London, United Kingdom FirstGroup Full time

Who are we?

First Rail Consultancy is part of FirstGroup, the largest rail operator in the UK and second largest bus operator in the UK outside London. FirstGroup operates services throughout the UK and Ireland, with over 30,000 employees providing services that make travel smoother and life easier. FirstGroup works hard to reduce its impact on the environment, introducing cleaner and more environmentally responsible methods of transport.

About the team

First Rail Consultancy provides specialist services across the public transport sector, nationally and internationally. We work closely with other FirstGroup plc businesses, including operators Avanti West Coast, Great Western Railway, South Western Railway, Hull Trains, and or all-electric Edinburgh to London service, Lumo. We are part of the team advising the DfT on the future operation of HS2. We also provide consultancy services for First Bus, London Trams and external clients.

We provide a wide range of services to meet our clients' needs in areas including customer experience, branding, data analysis, engineering, project management, editorial work and training design. We also engage in commercial activity for First Group plc to expand our business, both nationally and internationally. This work encompasses everything from contract bids and business planning to developing software solutions and new transport services.

We have assembled an experienced team with knowledge of a range of relevant disciplines. As a consultancy team, we regularly work on multiple assignments for different clients at the same time. This requires a high level of self-management and the ability to identify and manage unplanned changes. Reflecting this, we take great pride in being a friendly, inclusive and caring team. We support everyone in their personal and professional development with training, on the job coaching and interesting, varied assignments.
