General Practice Senior Clinical Pharmacist

We are looking for pharmacists to join our team in Perth & Kinross with positions available in both rural and city locations. Applications from newly qualified pharmacists will be considered.

NHS Tayside has been at the forefront of the development of the General Practice clinical pharmacy role

since 1997. The well established, patient centred service aims to maximise the skills of our pharmacy professionals who are an integral part of General Practice healthcare.

We aim for excellence within our teams with staff supported to achieve their full potential via robust training frameworks.

We are a friendly and sociable, forward thinking team with excellent peer support networks locally and across Tayside and Scotland.

The role will be community based and can involve working in a range of environments such as GP practices, a pharmacy hub, community hospitals, care homes and patients own homes with an emphasis on high quality pharmaceutical care.

Successful band 7 applicants will be supported by the NES educational framework and a clinical and educational supervisor as they work towards becoming an advanced General Practice Clinical Pharmacist. Newly qualified applicants will be considered and would be supported by NES educational frameworks to progress from band 6 to band 7.

Your time will primarily be spent in GP practices within Perth & Kinross and may include the opportunity to gain experience of delivering a clinical pharmacy service to community hospitals.

Hours of work are:37hours over 5 days. Part time applicants will be considered.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
