The role
This post is to work across two Innovate UK funded grants that will develop and use DNA sequencing strategies to develop methods for the modulation of microbial communities associated with farmed animals.
What will you be doing?
Responsibilities will include: overseeing the day-to-day management of the work including, with support from the project leadership team, that of a research technician; collecting data and physiological samples; preparing samples for analysis and carrying out DNA sequence analysis; collating, organising, and statistically and computationally analysing data with assistance and advice from the leadership team; preparing conference presentations and papers for publication in high quality journals; ensuring project adherence to quality assurance, Health and Safety, University, funders and Home Office rules and regulations; helping with organisation of impact activities.

The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in microbiological, molecular biological research and bioinformatics.
- Previous practical experience in DNA sequencing.
- A proven capability in data handling, collation, statistical and computational analysis.
- Experience of using packages such as R for data analysis and of using pipelines for sequence analysis.

Contract type: Open ended with funding for 18 months
