About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Manager to join our team at Meningitis Research Foundation. As a key member of our research team, you will play a critical role in developing and managing our research grants programme, as well as overseeing our genomics research programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research Strategy Implementation
    • Support the implementation of our new research strategy, identifying and onboarding scientific advisory panel members with relevant expertise.
    • Work with our Senior Research Officer to oversee the launch of grant rounds and coordinate peer reviews in alignment with AMRC requirements.
  • Grant Management
    • Work on post-award processing, monitoring, and governance of successful grant applications.
    • Support the Head of Research to identify and respond to relevant meningitis research consultations in the UK and internationally.
  • Genomics Research Programme Management
    • Manage the genomics research programme, setting up and maintaining partner contracts, monitoring progress, and collaborating with colleagues from the finance department.
    • Coordinate the submission of quarterly reports to funders.
Requirements
  • A degree in a relevant biomedical science or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience of performing peer review and grant management, ideally in line with Association of Medical Research Charity (AMRC) requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK research funding environment.
  • Demonstrable management skills or a professional project management qualification.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Solid organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise competing demands.
