The PR Manager, UK & Ireland (UKI) is integral to the day-to-day running of the UKI PR Centre of Excellence (COE) for in-market and European hotels supporting the PR objectives and goals for the individual Marriott properties that buy into the COE. The COEs work in a similar way to a PR agency for the priority hotels within market for Marriott.

The position will support with the development and execution of the PR plans for the participating hotels with the goal of driving top-tier earned media/ social exposure with key UK and Irish media and influencers covering consumer travel, hospitality, lifestyle and dining.

Reporting into the Senior Director, UK & Ireland, the position will also collaborate and align with the Marriott EMEA Communications team to ensure the pull-through of consumer, corporate and brand strategies and messaging, while positioning Marriott International and the COE participating hotels within top-tier media outlets and key influencers.

SCOPE

As part of a PR team of three, the PR Manager role is responsible for executing strategic PR campaigns to drive coverage for participating hotels across the UK with agreed top tier UKI publications/ influencers. The position is also responsible for collaborating with the Area team on PR opportunities for market-wide initiatives, demand generation offers and destination campaigns. In addition, the position will work with the hotel leadership on profile, speaking and interview opportunities.This role is also expected to support the hotels and Area team in the event of any Issues and Crisis situations, and work with the EMEA Senior Director Crisis and Issues as required.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Hotel PR. Work directly with the hotel teams to create and develop ideas and drive press coverage for F&B offers and promotions, packages/tactical campaigns for hotels and destinations. Create press-worthy angles for hotels and work with hotel General Manager, Sales and Marketing teams and other operational teams to ensure that PR activity is aligned with the hotel annual business plan and the PR COE Scope of Work.
  • Accelerated Hotels PR Support. For hotels participating in the PR COEs on the Accelerated level, drive cross-market collaboration with other COE leaders in European markets (France, Germany, Spain & Italy) to secure press coverage for these hotels in the UKI market media. If UKI hotels participate on an Accelerated level, work with other COE leaders to secure international coverage for these properties in their relevant feeder markets.
  • Press Office . The COE team is the first point of contact for media enquiries about Marriott's UKI hotels. Respond quickly and accurately to journalist enquiries and accommodation requests, focusing on top-tier media. Maintain a GDPR-compliant database of key media contacts in local market.
  • Media/Influencer Relations. Cultivate strong relationships with top-tier travel, consumer, F&B, trade and business press and influencers as well as local news media. Secure regular meetings with journalists/influencers to ensure that Marriott International and the market hotels remain top of mind. Proactively pitch hotel news in the UKI market.
  • Media Visits. Work with the UKI PR Executive on coordinating individual media and influencer review visits to COE hotels, ensuring that we are working with appropriate media/ influencers, to generate hotel review and destination feature content.
  • Team Management . Support and guide the UKI PR Executive – help to develop their skillset, give them direction and review any materials/ communications before sending to the Senior Comms Manager for final approval.

  • Strong media and influencer relationships particularly in lifestyle and travel consumer media
  • Hotel and/or brand experience preferred
