Resident Theatre Assistant

Leicester, Leicester, United Kingdom Ratcliffe College Full time

RESIDENT THEATRE ASSISTANT

FULL-TIME - REQUIRED FOR SEPTEMBER 2024

We are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic graduate to work within the Drama Department and assist within the Boarding Houses at Ratcliffe College.

As Resident Theatre Assistant, you will initially support our Drama teachers and the Theatre/Media Technician in teaching Drama lessons and co-curricular activities. You will develop and progress throughout the academic year to lead co-curricular activities independently. A particular focus of your role will be supporting productions within Academic Drama as well as our school plays and musicals. You will also contribute to our thriving boarding programme by being attached to our boys' or girls' Boarding House. As a 3-18 school, there will also be the opportunity to support our younger students in the Preparatory School.

A key element of this role will be the opportunity to support our flourishing International short-course programmes; Immersion events and Summer School. This will involve working 4 weeks of the School summer holiday and 1 week each over 2 of the half terms during the year.

Ideally the successful candidate will have a degree in Drama or Theatre, or will have significant experience of both acting and production. However, undergraduates on a placement year will be considered and are encouraged to apply. The post would be ideal for those who are considering a career in Education or the Arts.

We take your personal development seriously: you will benefit from free board to include all meals when the school is in session or when immersion or summer school programmes are taking place. You will have use of our four-lane running track, state-of-the-art fitness suite, swimming pool, our two sports halls, our Theatre and our music department, in addition to 200 acres of grounds.

To commence 01 September 2024; fixed term contract to 31 August 2025. There will be the possibility for the role to be renewed for a second year beginning September 2025.

We would be very interested in hearing from applicants who would be available to start in July 2024.

Please contact Mrs Christina Craven (Head of Drama) at for further information.

Salary

£17,500 per annum plus full board (that is all meals during term time) and accommodation to include all rent, energy bills, water rates and council tax. Salaries will be paid in equal monthly instalments. 5.6 weeks holiday pay is included in the above annual salary. All holidays must be taken during School holiday times and outside of responsibilities alongside the International short-courses.

Closing date for applications:

9am, Sunday 26th May 2024
