The Company

A regional main construction contractor with up to 40 years in the industry, as a business they have an extensive order book generating a turnover in excess of 100m. Portfolio and order book spanning the UK which has allowed them to become a market leader in the construction industry. They hold a proven track record of delivering award-winning developments for a variety of clients within Public Sector, Residential & Leisure.

The Project

As an experienced Planning Manager based in West Yorkshire, you will play a key role in overseeing the planning and scheduling of multiple new build / refurbishment projects across a wide range of sectors, including residential, leisure, commercial & retail with build values up to 30m+. With your expertise in planning software and methodologies, you will lead the development of detailed project schedules, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely delivery of projects. Your input will play a vital role in ensuring the successful completion of projects, contributing to the growth and success of the organisation.

Requirements

For this role, it is essential that you carry the following experience as a minimum;

  • Good working knowledge of Primavera P6 / Asta / MS Projects
  • Extensive background within the industry with at least 10 years of experience working with tier 1 and tier 2 leading construction contractors
  • A demonstrated track record of working on new build/refurbishment projects with build values in excess of 20m in a comparable role
  • A proven track record of delivering high quality plans and schedules on projects that were successfully delivered on time and within budget

  • Proven track record in planning and project management, preferably within the construction industry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders

Duties

  • Manage and advise planning teams
  • Engage in strategic decision-making
  • Develop pre construction programmes
  • Reporting directly to Managing Director
  • Perform routine quality audits and assessments
  • Keep precise and thorough project documentation
  • Develop project budgets and oversee expenditures
  • Maintain and oversee relationships with stakeholders
  • Implement efficient measures to maintain project progress
  • Oversee the planning process from inception to completion
  • Execute risk management strategies to address unexpected obstacles
  • Address client concerns and ensure satisfaction with project deliverables
  • Track and oversee project schedules to ensure compliance with deadlines
  • Establish and sustain positive client relationships, communicating regularly
  • Ensure projects align with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Handle and resolve project issues as they emerge throughout the project lifecycle
  • Create and deliver routine reports on project advancement, challenges, and results
  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate and manage them effectively
  • Create thorough project schedules, taking into account critical milestones and dependencies
  • Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans for the organization or specific projects
  • Utilize project management tools and technologies to improve planning and coordination processes
  • Work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, encompassing clients, team members, and regulatory authorities
