We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Land and Planning Manager to join our team at Associated British Ports (ABP). As a key member of our Property Development team, you will play a crucial role in driving the development of our ports and associated land holdings.
Key Responsibilities- Pump priming ABP development sites by commissioning technical due diligence, maintaining site/vegetation management, and dealing with customer requirements.
- Responding to third-party applications for planning permission on behalf of W&SSP, where required, across 17 Local Authorities and 16 ports.
- Supporting the Lead Property Development Manager with 'pump-priming' of development sites to unlock new development opportunities across all business lines.
- Commissioning and managing external consultants/contractors to deliver pump priming activities.
- Providing planning, consenting, and environmental expertise to support the growth plans of the business.
- Assisting with the development and delivery of business cases for capital development projects through careful planning of consent and environmental activities.
- Gaining an in-depth understanding of the planning and environmental legislative and policy landscape to manage risks and realise opportunities.
- Developing a positive culture across the business where development projects are delivered compliantly and professionally.
- Building strong, professional relationships with key statutory bodies to maximise the chances of securing consent for development projects.
- Working closely with relevant Group and Regional colleagues to deliver projects in line with best-practice exemplars.
- Working with the Lead Property Development Manager to satisfy customer requirements by identifying consent strategies for project developments.
- Identifying where professional planning advice is needed and engaging expert consultants using the Group Professional Services Framework.
- Advising on environmental & ecology survey & assessment requirements, maintaining survey registers, engaging consultants, and critically reviewing outputs.
- Managing the production of high-quality documents for submission to determining authorities and internal presentations to communicate new projects/initiatives within ABP.
- Representing ABP in stakeholder consultations, ensuring feedback is actioned and recorded where appropriate.
- Providing technical support on reviews and consultations relating to environmental and planning policy to ensure that risks to ABP are clearly identified and communicated.
- Experience with property development and/or infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical understanding of the marine and planning consent regimes with experience of consent applications across both systems (including TCPA).
- Conversance in project planning and delivery.
- Highly motivated individual who is passionate about finding solutions to unlock property development opportunities.
- Ability to lead projects as well as be a participant in others, both across multiple disciplinary teams.
- High attention to detail as well as having the ability to take a considered commercial viewpoint as required.
- Good negotiator with sound commercial and business acumen.
- Computer skills (Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Driving licence.
