Greenacre are pleased to be supporting a social housing organisation, based in Buckinghamshire, with their recruitment of a Financial Services Manager.

The ideal candidate will have a vast experience in leading a finance team and working closely with a financial reporting manager on the preparation of annual statutory accounts, returns to the regulator, funders and other statutory bodies.

What will you do in the role?

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the financial services team, consisting of a team of 8 people.
  • Ensure the groups cash flow management, creditor payments, rent accounting, general ledger and financial systems are all accurate.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of financial controls that are in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop performance policies and procedures to facilitate value for money and high standards of customer care within the financial services.
  • Work closely with the financial reporting manager on the preparation of annual accounts and returns to the regulator, funders and other statutory bodies.
  • Interact with the treasury management team to oversee daily and medium term cash flows so there are sufficient funds to meet the obligations as they fall due.
  • Ensure payroll arrangements have adequate controls and operate effectively. Also, overseeing the preparation and submission of the tax compliance returns when they are due.
  • Facilitate that accurate fixed asset registers and assets/liabilities registers are reflected accurately in the financial statements.
  • Develop housing management and accountancy systems and relevant interfaces to get the maximum effectiveness in support of the financial operations of the trust.
Who would excel in this role?

  • A candidate who has managed a large financial team and has a proven track record of identifying and implementing business system process improvements.
  • Someone who is a qualified accountant and has strong experience in tax compliance returns, reports and budgeting.
  • A candidate with a proven ability to build relationships and work effectively with the wider finance team and others across the organisation.
  • A candidate with a practical understanding of internal control and experience of dealing with internal and external auditors.
  • Someone with experience of complex accounting /financial systems and the ability to produce concise information and analysis to support decisions made by management.
  • A resilient and robust problem solver with good interpersonal skills who is able to communicate effectively with people at all levels both internally and externally.
  • High degree of initiative and innovative thinking who is able to think analytically and be an effective decision maker.
