For more information visit SummaryThe Head of Sustainability will work, collaborate, and influence with and across multiple departments including the Group Executive Committee, Corporate Affairs; Finance; Investor Relations, Internal Audit; Operations (Procurement, Facilities, Legal, IT), Risk, HR, as well as the client-facing commercial leadership, and involves working with personnel at all levels of the company.

The role sits within the Corporate Affairs department, reporting to the Global Head of Corporate Affairs, given Corporate Affairs' reach across the whole Marex business.

The Corporate Affairs team protects and promotes Marex's reputation externally and internally by engaging with potential and existing employees, clients, and investors, as well as other stakeholders and the broader community.

ExperienceExperience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.10-15 years' experience working directly in Sustainability and ESG, with the most recent role being of a similar managerial (Head of/ Executive Director) level of Sustainability and ESGExperience working in listed financial services and / or working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.

Collaboration skillsStrong networking skills, and existing sustainability and ESG networksOverall ResponsibilitiesSustainability StrategyImplement and evolve Marex's overall sustainability strategy, framework plan, meeting agreed targets and metrics.

Marex's Sustainability strategy is defined as a People and Planet Plan. This role has responsibility for Planet and supports on People alongside the HR team.

Ensure that Sustainability and ESG remain aligned with the firm's overall business goals and targets and are integrated and embedded throughout the organization.

Manage and implement regular Materiality assessments with internal and external stakeholders, to inform the development of the Sustainability strategy.

Lead or support on other strategic projects and plans across E, S, and G as part of the sustainability plan.


GovernanceSustainability and ESG Committees:
Member of the Sustainability Committee and Climate Change Steering Group Committee, and other working groups that may arise (i.e. CCSG), actively contributing to strategy and actions where applicable, and leading appropriate workstreams.

Integration:
Work with the business to ensure sustainability and ESG are fully integrated into policies and processes, with regular reviews and resultant workstreams

Risk management:

Collaborate with internal Risk teams, Financial Crime, Business Change Approval Committee (BCAC), and others to ensure sustainability and ESG are appropriately integrated within all risk measurement and mitigation processes e.g.

physical, transition, and operational.

Internal and External Reporting:
Support the internal Reporting team, and Head of Reporting to develop Marex's CFD reporting and implement CFD and TCFD aligned operational recommendations, for inclusion in formal external reporting, and to the Board

Regulatory compliance and horizon scanning:
Work with our finance and reporting teams and internal Legal Counsel to ensure Marex is complying with existing ESG regulation (i.e. CFD as per above), and has a view and plan to comply with upcoming local, national, and international sustainability regulations and standards e.g. CSRD, SEC etc.

Reporting and CommunicationsReporting:
Work alongside Head of Reporting, Head of Corporate Affairs, and the Sustainability Marketing and Communications Manager on the Sustainability Report and Sustainability ESG pages of the Annual Report

Investor Relations:

Support IR team to ensure that Marex is meeting investor and credit ratings agencies' expectations and answering ESG reporting requests.

Ensure that the Sustainability strategy, plan, and progress are integrated within all investor communications.
Lead on Marex reporting against ESG information requests from clients, ratings agencies, and other voluntary reporting disclosures Marex may choose to undertake (e.g. possibly for CDP, MSCI etc).

Sustainability Communications:
Work alongside the Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Marketing and Comms Manager to ensure their communication of Marex's Sustainability strategy, plan, and progress is highly evidenced and robustly supported through set pieces such as the Annual Report, Sustainability Report, and ongoing communications throughout the year

Environmental business:
Support the Sustainability Marketing and Comms Manager where necessary to ensure the right balance and tone of communications regarding the Environmental Business, in line with the percentage of revenue relative to overall revenue, and to ensure no greenwashing

Internal Communications:

Work alongside Internal Communications and Sustainability Marketing and Communications Manager to integrate Sustainability key messages within internal comms, regularly throughout the year.

Monitoring and evaluationManage and develop a sustainability and ESG scorecard with annual targets for People and Planet.

Quarterly track where possible the performance of Marex's People and Planet initiatives metrics and KPIs, evaluating progress and mitigating plans accordingly.

People
  • SocialThe goals and work within this sector are owned by HR; this role to support HR where appropriate to continuously develop and progress the 'People/ Social' targets, KPIs, and commitments e.
g. DE&I, social and community impact, volunteering, and charity support.

Charity support:
Work with the Corporate Affairs and HR to execute the evolved Charity Strategy e.g. Collective Giving and match funding by Marex, Emergency Crisis relief, Corporate Charity Partnership, and employee volunteering.
Work with HR to ensure ESG is appropriately integrated with Marex's Human Capital plans and process e.g. employee benefits, pension plan, performance reviews, Learning & Development.

Engagement and training:

ensuring that the Board, Senior Management, and all employees are upskilled on ESG topics and practices, appropriate to their role, and encouraged to participate in sustainability initiatives.

Planet
  • EnvironmentLead on strategy and plan to ensure Marex delivers on its 'Planet' Goal to become a Net Zero business by 2050.
Aligned with our regulatory requirements, create, manage, and implement Marex's Transition Plan and Pathway to Net Zero 2050.

Ensure Marex has a plan to reduce GHG emissions against scope 1 and 2 baselines and create and plan for the measurement and reduction of scope 3(SBTi aligned target setting to be reviewed) Work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure GHG reduction progress and plans are robust and actioned, leading on projects where necessary.

Liaise with colleagues at Marex and the ESG platform (currently Watershed) re regular reporting.

Supply Chain sustainability:

Working with Head of Supplier Management and Marex's key suppliers to measure, influence, and improve their environmental and social practices and performance.

Work with Climate Change Committee on Scenario analysis and resultant actions.

Carbon Offsetting:

Work with the business to ensure carbon offsetting is in place, including annual retirement and registration of carbon offsets for residual carbon emissions.

Work with colleagues at Marex and at OxCarbon to support the Global Mangrove Trust Project where appropriate, and ensure Marex reports on robust and verified progress in partnership with OxCarbon and GMT.


Innovation and Sustainable Solutions:

Work with the business to identify and implement innovative solutions that drive sustainability in Marex's own operations, such as circular economy or renewable options to reduce waste and energy.

Support the business where necessary as they lead on Marex's Environment goal to become a go-to provider of environmental products and find new sustainable solutions for clients.

Industry collaboration and advocacyEngage and collaborate with industry groups to shape and influence industry standards to ensure that Marex is recognized as actively leading on sustainability; participate in industry forums and events.

Standard responsibilitiesEnsuring compliance with the company's regulatory requirements under the appropriate regulatory body.
