SALARY & HOURS: £27,650 Full Time (35 hrs) fixed term to June 2025
The University of Buckingham has a unique atmosphere, unlike that of any other higher educational institution. Despite being the UK's smallest university and the only independent university to hold a Royal Charter, Buckingham has staff from over 60 countries, making it a truly distinctive work environment. Whichever of our locations you find yourself working in, you will be sure to feel a part of our friendly community.
Job Context
This role will be part of the Student Support Domain within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The FMHS Student Support team provide support and administration for any factors that may impact a student's ability to study and succeed on the course. The Faculty is split over two campuses, based at Buckingham and at Crewe and comprises of the School of Undergraduate Medicine, School of Health Sciences and School of Postgraduate Medicine. The role will be based physically at the Buckingham campus but there will be (remote) interactions with staff and students across both sites and there may be occasional visits to Crewe and/or placement provider sites.
Job Purpose
The overall aim of the Student Support Assistant role is to support cohorts/groups of students through transition periods and to identify and support individual students with specific areas of difficulty, helping them to manage their personal situations, develop their academic skills, access appropriate support and ultimately continue and succeed with their studies. The role will be a mix between working with individual students (either face to face or online) to discuss and support their individual situations and carrying out administrative tasks related to team processes and systems such as engagement monitoring, disability support and mitigating circumstances. This post is a fixed term post to cover a staff secondment.
