The Tax Assistant is a key part of the Tax Team, supporting iQ through its growth, both operationally and transactionally, and across the taxes applicable to a real estate business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Tax Senior Manager and Tax Manager in managing third party professional advisers to complete REIT compliance requirements
  • In house completion and submission of VAT and CIS returns
  • Liaising with HMRC on administrative matters, including online and by telephone and drafting of email and written correspondence
  • Additional tasks including supporting the Tax Team in tax forecasting and modelling, investor compliance, loan compliance, and monitoring and management of tax risks, managing tax documentation, and provision of advice and training to the wider business.

    Skills and Experience
    • Tax experience in a large/medium accounting firm; or mixed accounting experience (including tax) at a smaller accounting firm or in industry
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • Strong MS Excel skills
    • Experience in using specialist tax software (such as tax compliance software and MTD bridging software) preferred but not essential
    • Good knowledge of tax compliance requirements and experience of working with HMRC's systems
    • Strong self-motivation and desire to develop tax technical and business advisory experience
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Commercial mindset – ability to identify improvements and cost savings
