Assistant Operations Manager - Rotherham

Salary:
up to £45,000 per annum DOE

40 hours per week - Monday to Friday 8am-5pm

The main responsibilities of this role are to oversee the day-to-day management and operation of the MBT waste processing plant in compliance with all relevant legislation and ensure that the MBT process is run in an efficient way to minimise operation costs and maximise revenues.


You will have recent experience in a similar role (preferably in the waste industry although other process based industries will be considered).

A good understanding of health and safety issues is required. You will have good customer service and communication skills. Due to the variety of the role, excellent organisation skills are essential.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Agree plant performance targets with Senior Management, ensure checks are in place to monitor efficiencies and productivity, implement actions and improvements to ensure that production targets are met
  • Manage the testing and sampling regime for off-take products, ensure material quality is at an agreed standard. Along with BDR contract / performance adherence
  • Complete and close out actions identified through internal and external audits.
  • Ensure that KPI reports are completed on time
  • Assess the performance of your business against your budget /P&L, agree and implement actions with the Senior Management team.
  • Identify under-performing assets for evaluation, identify potential business improvement projects and assist in the preparation of business case papers, assist the Maintenance Manager in identifying the appropriate replacement capital for lifecycle projects
  • Ensure site purchasers use approved suppliers, obtain sufficient quotes for one off purchases, ensure that company procedures on procurement are followed.
  • Manage the recruitment, induction and training of staff, ensure that key messages are understood and followed

Essential criteria for this role:

  • Experience of managing a large processing facility including expenditure and control of costs
  • Experience of managing employee relations and training
  • In depth understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Computer literate
  • Good organisation skills and the ability to forward plan and have a proactive management approach
  • Ability to relay, coach / train technical information, monitor performance / compliance
  • Previous experience of continual performance improvements
  • Lead operational processes and coach supervisors and site teams
  • Full valid UK driving licence
