The Administration Section within the Clwyd Pension Fund (CPF), are looking to recruit an enthusiastic person to join our team. The CPF is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) within England and Wales, providing pension benefits to public sector workers.

The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated and professional pensions administration team. It will enable you to enhance and widen your existing skills whilst having the opportunity to promote and explain the LGPS to our members, using multiple platforms. The Fund provides the administration of the LGPS for 50+ scheme employers and delivers this service for approximately 50,000 members. The Fund has responsibility for the maintenance and calculation of pension benefits for active, deferred and pensioner members adhering to statutory regulations.

About You: In this key role you will work as part of a team providing a professional pensions administration service to our members. You will need to be organised, be able to plan ahead and prioritise your workload. You will need to achieve tight deadlines whilst ensuring that service quality and performance is maintained. A good range of IT skills is essential.

Job Purpose:

  • The Clwyd Pension Fund is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme and administers pension benefits on behalf of its members and employers. We are looking for someone who prioritises member experience and can work with other experts to adhere to regulations and provide clarity in a very complex subject area.
  • In this role you will be working closely with the other Principal Pension Officers as a part of the Management Team. You will jointly lead the operations team focusing on but not limited to the completion of complex cases, ensuring the accuracy of pension calculations produced and general quality of work is to a high standard.
  • Reporting directly to the Pensions Administration Manager you will provide clear, high quality advice and support to the management team and the fund's members and employers regarding scheme regulations and surrounding governance. You will assist in the implementation of internal procedures, ensuring the efficient administration of the Fund.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Research, interpret and apply proposed, new and existing pension legislation and LGPS regulations.
  • Ensure relevant areas of the business plan are completed in agreed timeframes and the
  • Fund's Administration and other Strategies are adhered to.
  • Actively manage and monitor individual workload and performance to meet legal and internal KPIs ensuring that information provided to members and third parties is accurate.
  • Provide clear structure and order to your team and ensure that roles and responsibilities are defined and adhered to.
  • Proactively seek to improve service provision to members and employers, both in terms of quality and efficiency.
  • Work closely with the Pension Administration Manager and other Principal Pensions Officers to define the future direction of the administration team.
  • Responsible for performance management including appraisals, coaching, training and monitoring attendance and time keeping.
  • Represent the Fund at local/national meetings with other pension authorities.
  • Deputise for the Pension Administration Manager as and when required to ensure delivery of an effective ongoing service.
