About this opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Operational Team Leader to oversee our operations on the stunning Lake Windermere. As the largest natural Lake in England. Lake Windermere provides the ideal backdrop for our team to deliver exceptional service to our customers, stakeholders and communities.

You will lead a team of highly skilled and experienced individuals, ensuring smooth operations and upholding the highest standards of safety and service excellence. Your responsibilities will include coordinating daily activities, managing resources effectively and fostering a culture of safety, teamwork and professionalism also ensuring the highest standards of customer service.

  • To be responsible for assisting the Senior Service Manager for Waste and Environment on Lake Management.
  • Assist the Assistant Director and Senior Service Manager for Waste and Environment in preparation and management of annual revenue and capital budgets including forecasts for future years across the service area.
  • Assist in the provision of effective budgetary control information and appropriate financial advice.
  • To proactively co-operate with other officers, community groups and other organisations in the development, design, facilitation and implementation of Arts and Cultural Events incorporating the use of Lake Windermere.
  • To ensure robust security measures remain in place regarding the protection of revenue for the Lake Warden service.
  • To effectively manage the Lake Wardens service including compliance with all legislation and the Windermere Management Strategy.
  • To provide a pro-active lake emergency support service in accordance with General Emergency Plans liaising as necessary with the emergency services. Emergency cover may necessitate out of hours call outs.
  • Assist the Senior Service Manager for Waste and Environment in liaising as necessary with all other organisations particularly LDNPA/RSPCA/National Trust/EA/CAS NHS Trust and Cumbria Constabulary, and Community Groups ensuring the best of working relationships.
  • To complete necessary risk assessments and be responsible for the Health and Safety of the Public on Lake Windermere and the Lake Warden Team. Including the preparation of appropriate Codes of Safe Working Practice and guidelines.
  • To prepare written and verbal reports and presentations suitable to wide audience including elected and non-elected members, officers and the public including preparing and presenting reports to Lake Administration Committee.
  • To be responsible for the supervision and daily operational functions of the Lake Wardens.
