- This full-time seasonal role is for 10 months of the year, from January to November. The Lake Rangers’ rota follows a 4 day on, 4 day off shift pattern which includes weekends and Bank Holidays, with early starts and late finishes in the high summer visitor season.
- What’s it like to work here?
- Our small team of Lake Rangers, including casual staff and volunteers, are part of the wider national park Ranger Teams. Their base is Ferry Nab, Windermere with the office and boathouse situated on the Windermere waterfront. You’ll also work the other navigable lakes, Coniston Water, Ullswater and Derwentwater.
- The role
- The role is based mainly on the water in the busier summer and autumn months, talking to lake users and helping to promote our water safety campaign.

- To provide friendly assistance, advice, guidance and education to all lake users and the public using our navigable lakes, which include Windermere, Coniston Water, Ullswater and Derwentwater.
- Assisting in the recovery or rescue of craft and people and playing a responsive role in the delivery of the Lakes Emergency Plans.

- Working with us, you’ll enjoy:
- Generous Pension Scheme
- Free car parking permit
- Paid time off so you can volunteer
- Subsidised healthcare scheme
- Commitment to wellbeing
