Job Purpose: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Building Safety Manager to join a proactive team responsible for ensuring compliance with Building Safety and Fire Safety Legislation. This pivotal role will oversee the establishment, development, and improvement of policies, systems, processes, and data management within a cohesive framework. The Building Safety Manager will drive building safety operating environments, legal frameworks, resident engagement, golden thread, and safety case requirements, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Strategy: Shape and implement the operational vision and strategy for the service, aligning with the organization's strategic vision. Provide strong and dynamic leadership within the Strategic Leadership Team.
  • Compliance Management: Lead the development and delivery of compliant building safety cases for high-risk buildings. Interpret regulatory frameworks to ensure buildings are equipped with appropriate safety systems.
  • Resident Engagement: Develop and maintain effective resident engagement practices, ensuring their safety and compliance with building management aspects.
  • Project and Risk Management: Manage safety project workstreams within the capital programme, ensuring timely and compliant delivery of agreed spend profiles and safety regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Inspire, motivate, and challenge staff, promoting a culture of high performance, creativity, and innovative thinking. Provide effective line management and supervision to designated staff.
  • Governance and Risk Management: Apply principles of good governance and risk management to ensure building and resident safety. Ensure robust management of health and safety within asset management.
  • Financial Management: Maintain financial discipline across building safety functions, delivering value for money, and identifying opportunities for efficiencies and income generation.
  • Communication: Ensure clear and effective communication across teams and stakeholders, promoting a free flow of ideas and information.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring service compliance with statutory responsibilities and safeguarding agendas.
Essential Criteria:
  • Degree level education or significant experience in Building Safety.
  • Relevant building safety professional qualification or significant experience in that field.
  • Proven organisational and programming skills for large-scale contracts.
  • Strong project and risk management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Financial and numeracy skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a flexible team member.
  • Experience in leading and managing procurement processes and substantial budgets.
  • Comprehensive understanding of building safety legislation and best practices.
Desirable Criteria:
  • NEBOSH / IOSH qualification.
  • Up-to-date membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Experience in managing large-scale capital projects and high-value budgets.
