This role provides a fantastic opportunity for you to build key foundations and shape the narrative, that will provide AXA the exposure and scope required for growth.
It's an exciting time to join the AXA Commercial team, as we undergo significant growth across our branches to support the overall strategic business plan. We're currently looking to strengthen the team and bring to market the opportunity to join us a Senior Fleet Underwriter working on new business.
The role encompasses many opportunities to contribute to the development and success of the branch account, not just from a growth and profitability perspective but driving service excellence to our customers. The team ensure close collaboration is supported internally across the teams to be set up for success, as well as engaging and building key relationships with the brokers and panel aligned business developers.

You'll work at least 60% of your week away from home, either at our office location in Glasgow, visiting clients or attending industry events.

As Senior Fleet Underwriter you'll help drive and transform how we partner our broker portfolios, through responsive, flexible, and collaborative relationships. With a strong balance of technical and trading capability, you'll be empowered to make decisions, supported by data, insight, and decision support tools on mobile technology to succeed. You'll be focused on developing and delivering profitable growth, through our existing book of business, as well as contributing to the acquisition of new business.
Underwrite new and existing Mid-Market business profitably, accurately, consistently and in line with established underwriting practices, using the full range of tools available.Build trading relationships with brokers, through visits and large case liaison, to maximise financial results and to generate pipeline new business opportunities.Contribute to meetings with brokers and end customers to portray AXA capabilities and secure new business opportunities.Your ProfileWhat we're looking for:
Keep an open mind: Keen to learn and challenge the status quo, able to approach tasks from different perspectives while focusing on helping colleagues and customers.Stay curious: You'll be perceptive of what our customers and the market wants and bring that knowledge into your work, whilst making the most of AXA's development opportunities.Be a team player: Able to use your unique skills and knowledge to collaborate with your colleagues, take accountability and discover new ways of doing things.Strong trading capability, commercial awareness, negotiation skills, ability to build strong broker relationships, within a Commercial Fleet environment.Pragmatic decision making with good analytical and numerical reasoning skills.Strong analytical skills with proven experience of account monitoring and action planning.Proven experience in decision making on a wide range of underwriting scenarios within a Commercial environment.Sound understanding of insurance market and processes across commercial lines insurance operations.Knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements for insurance, including treating customers fairly.This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
