The Commercial Marketing Director is a critical role leading customer growth, category & channel marketing across the complexity of different channels and segments. The role will report directly to the Managing Director UK & I and will work very closely with Sales and Marketing Directors. The role is responsible for driving effective execution of brand experiences in line with consumer demand occasions, shopper insights, data analytics and channel objectives. The role leads a team of 14 with of 5 direct reports.

Role Responsibilities

People Leadership

• Lead, inspire, and develop a large and diverse team

• Promote inclusion, engagement and teamwork

Channel / Customer Segmentation & Brand x SKU assortment strategy

• Create the Channel & Customer Segmentation – Off Trade, On-Trade & E- commerce

• Convert Brand Strategies into Channel strategy Define Brand X SKU role by Channel

• Own, steer and coordinate the commercial activity calendar


• Gain alignment with sales and marketing teams and execute all customer marketing activities - on trade, off trade, ecomm and luxury.

Customer Growth/ Category Management & Joint Business Planning

• Develop Top National Customer-wise plans & Joint Business planning (JBP) where applicable for Off Trade and relevant On-Trade and E-Com customers together with respective Controller, NAM or Channel Director.

• Define Category/ Customer growth drivers and generate customer propositions for our major brands
Channel/ Customer Activation Calendar

• Deliver channel specific assortment recommendations

• Develop channel or customer specific promotion activities (incl. VAP guideline) based on relevant data (e.g. TPM, VAP analysis) to drive growth and ROI

• Securing the annual budget for channel or customer activation
Innovation

• Responsible, through a direct report, for the UK innovation pipeline and commercialisation. Managing the innovation process form early-stage projects through to successful launch and post launch evaluation. We have a big ambition to drive growth for our brands in the UK and this will be a big focus for the new organisation.
Shopper Insights

• Leverage Shopper Insights from various studies for the different channels and use them to drive business recommendations
Analytics & Review Process

• Own the relationship with all data providers e.g. AC Nielson, Kantar, Dunhumby, IWSR and analyse the data to drive insights that support brand and customer growth.

• Monitor the ROI of business impact of channel investments & give updates to sales & marketing leadership.

• Lead monthly review of Distribution & Sales Coverage

• Monthly monitoring and tracking of KPIs for Sales Incentive Plan


• ROI on long term visibility assets

Qualifications

Experience and Qualifications


• Minimum 10 years leadership/managerial experience in FMCG/Blue chip companies, Spirits/Drinks industry preferred

• Strong knowledge of UK retailer landscape

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role or 5 years in Sales roles including Key Account Management and experience in Marketing/Trade Marketing Roles

• Experience leading large teams with multiple direct reports
