About the Role

Queen Mary's strategy, history and culture combine to create a uniquely powerful environment for research, innovation and impact. Through our Strategy 2030, we are committed to continually building our capacity for impact, ensuring it creates positive change in our uniquely diverse home community in London's East End and across the world.

The Impact Team plays an essential role in this, working closely with other knowledge exchange teams to provide joined-up and expert support to enable impact of all types from across the university.

The Team is responsible for:

  • Building a culture of research impact across Queen Mary, through training, networking and capacity building.
  • Providing specialist support to develop, capture, evidence and evaluate the impact of Queen Mary's research.
  • Managing systems and processes for analysis and capture of impact activity and evidence.
  • Administering the Queen Mary Impact Fund, including our Impact Acceleration Account allocations.
  • Supporting preparations for the Research Excellence Framework (REF), by maximising the quality of impact related materials within Queen Mary's submission.

About You

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in supporting research impact and/or knowledge exchange. The postholder will have a demonstrable interest in the range of ways research from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry can lead to research impact, ideally with experience of working in a similar role or area previously. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and supportive team and a role which offers a host of opportunities for career development.

About the Department

The Impact Team is part of the Research Services Directorate. The post is primarily based at Queen Mary Dept W near Whitechapel and will also involve meetings on the Mile End campus and travel to occasional external meetings. The team works in a hybrid format, with a minimum of two days per week on campus.

About Queen Mary

At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.

Throughout our history, we've fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it's simply 'the right thing to do' but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.

We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.

Benefits

We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days' leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus.

Queen Mary's commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We are open to considering applications from candidates wishing to work flexibly.
