Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST3-5/ST6+) in Haematology at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to commence 04 September 2024 for 12 months.

This role has no on-call commitment though there may be an opportunity to participate on the on-call rota.

Main duties of the job

The duties of this post include providing medical cover for the Day Unit, Cancer Admissions Unit, inpatient ward, and clinics. This will involve the management of patients with haematological malignancies and non-malignant haematological disorders, and will also include ambulatory care for stem cell transplantation within our Day Unit. There may be an opportunity to gain experience in aspects of Laboratory Haematology.

Please note this post does not carry Postgraduate Dean's approval or training recognition.

However as the postholder will be covering the same duties as in a training post, there is a potential for the competencies achieved during this time to be counted towards training time, if the post holder was to join a Haematology Higher Training rotation. It is also a post well suited to those wanting to gain experience at a SpR level prior to applying for a formal training post.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.

Working for your organisation

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Applications from job seekers who require skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.
