Location: Bracknell based with hybrid working with the expectation to be in Bracknell or travel to suppliers as and when required. Some UK and overseas travel may be required depending on the category area.
Salary Range: We are looking for candidates within the salary banding of £57, £80,000 per annum

About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Waitrose Innovation team as an Innovation Manager.
The role of the Waitrose Innovation Manager will lead and influence to effectively test and bring new and emerging food trends to market and strengthen Waitrose reputation as an innovator. The successful candidate will provide expertise and translate emerging trends across all areas of innovation to build and manage a comprehensive innovations plan that provides competitive advantages for Waitrose.
This role would suit someone who has a passion for innovation, is energised from learning and creates energy and inspiration for others to develop competitive advantages for Waitrose & Partners as a result.
This role would also suit someone who can think creatively about the future and is an agitator for change. Strong influencing skills and inspiring others with their creative vision are desirable.
Some of your key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Keeping abreast of Customer strategy and direction and macro consumer trends in order to tailor Food Innovation direction.
Creates the Food Trends Lookbook, which includes trends that are emerging in food, drink and packaging as well as consumer habits on food, packaging, non food and consumer habits as a directional tool for Product Developers. You will also organise and deliver the annual food trend "festival"/ Conference for suppliers and internal partners
Develops and delivers context for inspirational workshops to Product Developers (and wider groups of stakeholders) to support strategic Own Brand propositions and critical categories ensuring content is optimised and evolved effectively.
Develops and delivers creative and inspirational stimulus (content, tools and techniques) to effectively influence Product Innovation & Own Brand team (and wider), to enable effective translation of trends into Product Development and drive behavioural change in product development teams.
Overall responsibility for Food Innovation and Food trends (and seen as Subject Matter Expert).
Budget holder for Innovation activity eg. trawls, workshops, agencies etc.
Manages relationships with external agencies such as the food people and Tastewise AI platform
Manages booking and scheduling workshops
Essential Skills
Commercial experience at equivalent level and proven ability in delivering strong results.Communicating at all levels of the business with strong presentation skills and is a skilled influencer.Has considerable exposure in a Commercial environmentBe able to demonstrate a genuine interest, enthusiasm and desire to affect change through product trends and innovation.Experience of working in a food development role either with a retailer or supplierExperience of interpreting and analysing data from a variety of sourcesExperience of working collaborativelyConsiderable experience of facilitating innovation workshops, food trawls and ensuring clear outputsDesirable Skills
