We have a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Conference and Events Manager. The University of Edinburgh Hospitality Collection offers conference, event, and delegate management services for over 2,000 events per year in some of the city's most prestigious venues. From state-of-the-art conference facilities on the Pollock Estate to the elegant grandeur of McEwan Hall and the Playfair Library, our Hospitality Collection boasts more than 70 meetings rooms across 15 venues.

Joining our team as a Conference and Events Manager you will provide support to customers by arranging large conferences, meetings, and events and by delivering a professional event management service. You will require excellent communication and influencing skills combined with strong administrative skills including the ability to forecast and plan, work to deadlines, and deliver an exceptional level of customer service.

This exciting post offers significant opportunities to make a difference. The post holder will be integral to the future success of our events business and play a key part in driving growth and delivering an excellent customer experience.

You will be responsible for:

  • The planning and management of a large portfolio of events from enquiry stage through to the day of delivery.
  • Leading on larger scale Event Management events using multiple systems, creating registration sites, organising social events and managing accommodation requirements for a range of clients.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, always ensuring that we exceed their expectations and maintain our reputation as a trusted and quality venue/ event management supplier.
  • Responsible for managing account plans to retain existing key accounts and generating new business opportunities.
  • Adhering to all appropriate financial and contractual controls
  • Keeping up to date with developments with our own products and services, but also the wider industry to ensure we remain competitive and relevant

Your skills and attributes for success.

We are looking an experienced Event Manager who has:

  • Proven experience of working in the events sector managing a high volume of events, ideally across multi-site venues.
  • Has comprehensive experience in delivering event management services, including delegate registration systems and liaising with third party suppliers, exhibitors, and sponsors.
  • Works well as part of a team, and can collaborate to achieve shared objectives
  • Has the ability to offer a high level of customer service and build strong, long-lasting relationships with key clients.
  • Can demonstrate strong administrative skills including the ability to forecast and plan, work to deadlines and the ability to budget and manage significant financial transactions.
  • Has the ability to make decisions with conviction and confidence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability and confidence to relate to staff at all levels and has confidence to challenge existing practices.
