The Opportunity:

You will employ teaching, supervision and administrative expertise in social anthropology to contribute to the delivery and organisation of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Teaching responsibilities will include co-teaching on the UG courses 'Social Life and Climate Change', 'Energy in the Global South', and 'International Development, Aid and Humanitarianism', and the PG course 'International Development in Practice' (or equivalent).

This post is fixed term for 12 months from August 2024

This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering flexible working patterns or requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD or equivalent, either submitted or awarded by the time of appointment, in Social Anthropology
  • Evidence of a commitment to, and potential for, excellent teaching and the delivery of programmes and courses relating to social and environmental anthropology, and an affinity and familiarity with the topics of the courses listed.
  • Evidence of an ability to design and deliver course materials and to assess student performance, including the provision of detailed feedback.
  • A strongly developed student focussed approach.
  • Evidence of a clear commitment to collegiality, within and across academic and professional services teams.
