The primary responsibilities include:
(a) delivering lessons for designated classes along with necessary preparation and evaluation
(b) enhancing the educational curriculum
(c) evaluating, documenting, and communicating student progress
(d) preparing students for assessments and aiding in their administration
(e) offering guidance and support to students regarding their educational journey
(f) ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of students
(g) collaborating with parents, support personnel, and other professionals
(h) engaging in relevant and approved Continuing Professional Development
(i) participating in school planning, achievement enhancement, and individual assessments
(j) contributing to maintaining order and addressing the broader needs of the school community.
Specific Duties
All Principal Teachers (Curriculum/Pastoral) are tasked with fulfilling the responsibilities outlined in Annex B of "A Teaching Profession for the 21st Century":
(a) leading, managing effectively, and providing strategic direction for colleagues
(b) overseeing curriculum development and ensuring quality
(c) contributing to school policy development regarding student behavior management
(d) guiding and managing fellow educators
(e) assessing the professional development needs, career progression, and performance of colleagues
(f) offering advice, support, and guidance to fellow staff
(g) leading, managing effectively, and providing strategic direction for pastoral care within the institution
(h) developing school policies related to student behavior management
(i) assisting in the management, deployment, and development of pastoral care personnel
(j) implementing comprehensive school policies addressing guidance, pastoral care, assessment, and student welfare
(k) collaborating with colleagues, parents, specialized agencies, and staff from other educational institutions as necessary.
