This is a permanent Lecturer post within the Psychology & Sociology subject area and is offered on a full-time basis, although applicants seeking to work part time will also be considered. The post will require you to undertake teaching, assessment and related activities, primarily on our MSc programmes in Counselling Children and Young People and Child and Adolescent Mental Health. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in interdisciplinary scholarly activities to enhance the impact and profile of the Faculty's outputs.

About you

You will have an educational background in Counselling, Psychology or a closely related discipline. A postgraduate qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy is essential to the post and you will be expected to be registered or accredited as a counsellor, psychotherapist or counselling psychologist with a recognised professional body (such as BACP). Expert knowledge of children and young people is highly desirable and previous experience of teaching in Further/Higher Education is a distinct advantage. You will have well developed written and verbal communication, time management and organisation skills and an effective approach to completing tasks. Good IT skills, including competence in using visual learning environments and remote teaching platforms is essential. A dedication to providing a personalised and supportive student learning experience is vital.

Qualifications

Essential;

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject
  • Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in counselling and/or psychotherapy, specifically in the area of children, adolescents and young people or a relevant related subject
  • To be registered or accredited as a counsellor, psychotherapist or counselling psychologist with a recognised counselling/psychotherapy professional body (such as BACP)
  • Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale

Desirable;

  • Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion

Right to work

All candidates will be asked to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK at interview. The University can consider Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this position subject to eligibility requirements of the points-based system being met.
