Job description


We are looking to hire a Deputy Academic Registrar (Regulation, Assessment and Casework) to work with the Academic Registrar, and Deputy Registrar (Student Records and Partnerships) in reshaping the central Registry Services function at St Mary's University.

This is a new post, and one of a number established recently to strengthen professional services at St Mary's, providing effective alignment with our recent Academic Management Restructure and reflecting our commitment to organisational enhancement.

The Deputy Academic Registrar (Regulation, Assessment and Casework) will be responsible for leading on all aspects of managing assessment and student attainment. This is a wide ranging and varied post, with a key responsibility being the overall management of the annual university exam periods, and all associated exam boards. ratification processes.

The postholder will also support the management of student casework, including handling appeals, conduct and academic misconduct cases.

We are seeking a pro-active individual with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work on their own initiative.

A key part of the role will be to conduct ongoing regulation, policy and process reviews, adapting to meet the changing needs of the university.

The postholder will also work closely with Faculty Deans and Faculty Operating Officers to ensure that academic and professional services staff work collaboratively to achieve the best outcome for students.

Applicants should have experience of a leadership role in a busy Registry/Student Administration function within a Higher Education setting, and should be committed to providing an excellent student service as well as identifying and driving change.

Excellent IT skills are a must, and candidates should have a good working knowledge of SITS.
