Senior Sales Manager - Business Utilities Sector

Overview:

Our client, a leading company in the Business Utility sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Sales Manager. This is a key role in leading sales channels across SME and I&C, managing a growing team of up to 40 people, and achieving ambitious sales targets. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth in line with board expectations and enhancing the overall sales management structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Lead and inspire a team of up to 40 in the sales department, including up to 8 direct reports (Team Managers, Business Development Managers, Major Business and Sales Support).
  • Sales Target: Full responsibility for achieving annual sales targets generating approximately 800m in contract revenue.
  • Team Development: Motivate, coach, train, and develop staff in accordance with company values and procedures.
  • Relationship Management: Ensure internal and external business relationships are maintained and developed for optimum sales delivery and efficiency.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee flawless sales operations, ensuring high performance and delivery standards within the team and the business.
  • Process Improvement: Regularly review department processes for efficiency improvements and risk mitigation, ensuring documentation is continually updated.
  • Profit & Margin Targets: Consistently hit profit and margin targets, driving sales through weekly team action plans and feedback.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop long-term business plans in conjunction with the Head of Sales and other Managers.
  • Product Development: Proactively develop and improve products and propositions with partners, identifying areas of added value for both parties.
  • Strategic Contribution: Contribute to the overall TPI and Major Business Sales strategy, attend forums, meetings, and contribute to company strategy and policy making.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate activities between departments, ensuring cooperative cross-functional operations.
  • Reporting: Provide accurate reports to management as required.

What We Need From You:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within the energy retail industry.
  • Deep knowledge and experience of the UK Energy sector.
  • Experience selling through TPIs (desirable).
  • Proven track record in delivering sales targets across multiple sales channels.
  • Experience managing a fast-paced sales team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage high workloads and balance priorities.
  • Motivated to succeed with a passion for targets and results.
  • Demonstrated initiative and commercial thinking.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing business priorities.
