Job Summary

Imperial College Business School seeks an experienced and innovative Head of Content Marketing to lead our Content Marketing team. This role is pivotal in developing and delivering high-quality marketing content that promotes our degree programmes to the world's top business students. The successful candidate will oversee content marketing, PR, and communications strategies that drive interest, enquiries, and applications from high-calibre potential students globally. This position supports the strategic objectives of the Marketing, Recruitment, and Admissions teams, ensuring we meet our targets for student recruitment.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Content Marketing Strategy: Develop and lead a multi-channel content marketing strategy to position Imperial College Business School's programmes competitively among globally leading institutions.
  • Content Creation: Oversee the creation, delivery, and evaluation of impactful marketing content, including articles, blogs, videos, podcasts, digital brochures, and photography.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a team of content marketing and social media professionals, ensuring integration across Marketing, Recruitment, and Admissions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders, including Academic Directors and Programme Directors, and manage third-party suppliers to ensure best value.
  • Content Distribution: Manage content distribution across key channels such as the website, social media, email marketing, and third-party advertising.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Analyse and report on the return on investment of content marketing activities, using marketing analytics tools.
  • PR Management: Manage the relationship with external PR agencies to achieve press coverage that raises awareness of our programmes.
  • Budget Management: Plan and manage the content marketing budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Staff Development: Lead, motivate, and develop the Content Marketing team, providing regular reviews and identifying training opportunities.

Occasionally some activities will take place outside normal working hours at evenings and weekends.

Essential requirements

  • A degree, or equivalent, ideally in Business, Marketing, English, Journalism, Communications or Media Production, or equivalent experience in a similar or related role(s)
  • Significant experience leading, delivering and evaluating content-led marketing and communication strategies that include digital content and public relations/media activity
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused sector
  • Experience working in a large, complex organisation and building relationships to achieve work goals
  • Knowledge of and experience managing social media channels (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn), and evaluating social media campaigns.
  • Experience of using web and social media management, monitoring and marketing analytics tools/software
  • Significant experience conducting interviews and writing content for digital channels
  • Experiencing managing digital content production, including copywriting, photography and video content
  • Experience providing editorial direction to digital content contributors
  • Experience working within a set of brand messages and identity guidelines
  • Experience identifying and appointing third party suppliers through a formal pitch process, and ongoing supplier relationship and project management to deliver content marketing
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and digital marketing and communications practices and trends
  • Comprehensive understanding of the digital marketing landscape
  • Comprehensive understanding of performance marketing tactics
