Job Opportunity

To steer strategic projects related to bulk annuities ensuring proper actuarial controls and pricing supervision are in place. This role involves collaboration with colleagues throughout the organization, including LifeCo entities, to implement new processes for CLL.

The position entails managing, motivating, and enhancing the performance of a team while working collectively with teams across the UK, Canada, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of actuaries and trainees responsible for developing and pricing bulk annuities under strategic projects, encompassing recruitment, coaching, day-to-day management, and performance reviews.
  • Communicate and influence Senior Executives on the impact and pricing of bulk annuity quotations, driving efficiency improvements and capital modeling.
  • Develop and execute pricing and reinsurance arrangements for bulk annuity projects to broaden market opportunities and enhance profitability.
  • Review and produce actuarial reports, including pricing reports and statements.
  • Offer support to strategic project initiatives, participate in external negotiations, and contribute to bulk annuity strategies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, leading business project workstreams based on development requirements.
Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills
  • Prior experience in team management and resource planning is essential.
  • Familiarity with UK Bulk Annuity markets and reinsurance structures.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills to draw sound conclusions based on data while staying pragmatic.
  • Ability to apply actuarial techniques to solve business problems.
  • Effective influencing skills to manage stakeholders and achieve desired objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Capability to build relationships across various levels.
  • Understanding and ability to implement/maintain an actuarial control framework.
  • Qualified Actuary certification.
