About the Role

This role involves the delivery of high-quality teaching, scholarship and administration in the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences (SPCS). This involves contributing to the organization and delivery of undergraduate and taught postgraduate modules and the assessment of student achievement as agreed with the Head of School. The successful candidate would also be expected to undertake scholarship, which may include pedagogical studies or outreach, and undertaking administrative and other duties as a member of academic staff as agreed with the Head of School.

This is a part time role. Applications are welcomed from those who wish to work 17.5 hrs, or those who wish to work less than 17.5 hrs on a job share basis.

About You

The successful candidate would be expected to have an undergraduate degree in pharmaceutical / medicinal chemistry or closely related discipline, and a PhD in pharmaceutical / medicinal chemistry or closely related discipline, and / or relevant professional qualification and / or equivalent professional experience. It would be desirable if the candidate has a recognised teaching qualification in higher education e.g. through a fellowship of the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and membership of a relevant professional bodies e.g. a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC).

About the School

The School of Physical and Chemical Sciences consists of the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Chemistry. It is one of five schools in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The School is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to over 530 undergraduate students, 70 postgraduate taught students, and 130 teaching and research staff. Our research is highly collaborative, working with colleagues across all three faculties and supported by partnerships with industry, NHS and other stakeholders.
